The purpose of this paper is twofold: to show my qualitative inquiry (QI) researcher position through the presentation of some aspects of what I do as a QI researcher, and, from this position, to engage in the discussion of what aims are required for ICQI and the mandate that is needed in the present hegemonic context. I argue that autonomic health words, meanings, and practices fade in the scientific neoliberal mist. In a situation where culture is the big weapon to resist hegemonic invasion, to lose autonomic meanings is worrying. To confront this situation, I conceived a critical idea of health promotion: emancipatory health promotion (EHP). A main EHP aim is, as didascalos, to put the research knowledge and tools in the hands of people. I present some key EHP concepts and explain that critical QI becomes for EHP a healing process of self-understanding and communication to engage in power struggles. In this context, I proceed to answer the questions concerned with ICQI aims and mandate.
